2020 was a difficult enough year with the global pandemic and my cancer surgery. To make matters worse, however, my sister Donna lost her brave battle to a skull base meningioma which was diagnosed in late 2013. I was fortunate enough to visit her for a week in February 2020 at Stanford Medical Center. Mercy Flight transported her there from her home in Southern Oregon. I returned to be with her at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Southern Oregon in late May 2020. I was there for the last week of her life, and was at her bedside when she passed. Donna and I were always very close. She was always there for me, flying across the country numerous times to be with me during my post-op and post-radiation recoveries. I miss her greatly, but take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and no longer suffering. I am riding this year's Empire State Ride in her memory.
