Roswell Park Cancer Institute is a critical resource serving patients and families from Western New York and beyond. Let me tell you something about it.
This past July, my bride Kathy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. AML is a complex disease, and when you receive a diagnosis like that, you need to learn fast. It becomes clear pretty quickly that Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is where you want to be.
Roswell treats the whole patient, and - in Kathy's case - guides you through a long, complex, and often isolating recovery. Kathy has undergone extensive treatments, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and, ultimately, a new chance at life with a Bone Marrow Transplant.
The care teams in Leukemia and Transplant Cellular Therapy have become like family (IYKYK), celebrating birthdays and holidays and a hundred other minor victories along this road to recovery.
On June 22, I will be participating in the 2024 Ride for Roswell, a vital community fund raising effort. "The Ride" generates revenue critical to accelerating the future of cancer research while also supporting the quality of comprehensive patient care that we have received. Every. Single. Day.
I am riding with Roswell's Donor Center Team in recognition of the strategic role that Platelet and Blood Donors play in supporting the thousands of patients like Kathy who rely on Roswell Park each year. Blood and platelet donations have been a critical component in her treatment and recovery.
Please, if you are able, consider donating to my Ride for Roswell fundraiser.
Feel free to share this link and tell Kathy's story: She is the strongest person I know.
For every dollar donated to cancer research, Roswell Park is now able to leverage an additional $23 from external grants towards that research.
Thank you. XO
