Here we are again. I said this last year, and I'll say it again: I was not going to do this. I was not going to do the Ride for Roswell.
Last year was tough enough and 12 years of fundraising and mashing my way along country roads for 45 miles was enough. I was going to donate and leave it at that. Let others do the fundraising and the riding.
Then I'm back in a waiting area at Roswell Park, this time for a routine visit and follow up. The waiting area is full. You can see the first-time visitors, patients, families. The anxiety, the confusion ... they are caught in the tsunami of it all.
Too many people.
The emotions came roaring back; the rage against the disease rose anew.So here we are. I am going to drag these older bones around for 45 miles or so on June 24 and wipe away the tears as I do it.
We simply have to do as much as we can as long as we can.
Can I count on you, again?
Cancer can be beaten. A donation to the Ride for Roswell will help the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in its mission to find ways to prevent, treat and cure cancer.
Give what you can.
