Cancer doesn’t care. It doesn’t care about age. It doesn’t care about your family or friends. It doesn’t care about what it takes from us — or who it leaves behind.
This year I will be riding in memory of a long-time friend of mine, John Pace. John lost his courageous battle against brain cancer (Astrocytoma) this past February, at the way too-young age of 62.
John and I first met through our son’s youth hockey team, with John one of the coaches and I the team manager. Because of our roles, we were fortunate to have spent a lot of time together for the years our kids were together. Someone said about John “Some people just make you feel better when you are around them, they are sunshine for your soul and medicine for your mind.” That was absolutely the witty John I knew!
To help find a cure for cancers like John’s, I will again be riding in the 46-mile Canada Route this year, as part of The Ride For Roswell on Saturday, June 24. The ride starts at Roswell Park, goes over the Peace Bridge into Canada and along the Niagara Parkway to Niagara Falls. Once in Niagara Falls, the route crosses over the Rainbow Bridge and heads for a finish at the University at Buffalo. If I reach my fundraising goal, I also hope to be riding in the Ride for Roswell Peleton which kicks off the opening ceremony on Friday night.
You can make a difference by supporting me in The Ride For Roswell. Funds raised through The Ride support cutting-edge research and compassionate, innovative patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Please consider supporting me. Together, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
Thank you for your support!
