Friends, Family, Loved Ones, It's that gratifying time of year where YOU can make a difference in the battle against Cancer by supporting me in the annual Ride for Roswell. This is my 10th year participating in the fundraiser and every year I dedicate my ride to someone whose life has been directly impacted by this heinous disease.
The last few years i have been honered to ride for my two sister's (Isabel and Christine) both of who were diagnosed with Cancer.
And recently, adding my boss Mike saia that I continue to ride for.
By the grace of God, each of them are LIVING proof that contributions to Cancer research not only aid in raising awareness, but, also increase early detection, expand treatment options and, ultimately, prolong the lives of many. While many Cancer survivors are blessed with the benefits of more frequent and longer remissions, there are still so many more who are not. My 87 year old mother, Ramona, was one of those diagnosed too late in life to give the disease a proper fight. Unbeknownst to any of us (including her), the timeframe from her initial diagnosis to her passing would be just 41 days. 41 days to hear her voice. 41 days to hold her and tell her we loved her despite the poverty, struggle and strife of our modest single parent upbringing. She was the quick witted Matriarch of our family who held an arsenal of humorous retorts and Cancer had come to silence her. It is with a heart filled with pride and respect for the bravest women I know, that I dedicate this year as I did in previous years to the memory of my mom.
The Goal this year is to raise $5,000
ANY and ALL contributions are greatly appreciated.
Parting Words: On behalf of my Mom, my sister's, my boss Mike Saia, and all those whose lives have been touched by cancer, I thank you for your support.
I love and miss you Mom! ~Weegie
