Here's to YEAR 3 for the Ride for Roswell and Szalkowski STRONG!
Just over 2 years now... We wouldn't wish this ride on anyone, but it's the most important ride of our lives.
My Dad, Jim, has been receiving treatment through at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for almost 2 years. Overall, he has done far better than anyone could have expected and his treatment team says he is doing "exceptionally well." But he continues to fight this battle. Since starting treatment, his lesions, overall, have shrunk approximately 50% or have remained relatively stable.
He has recently started a new treatment because the first treatment, the clinical trial, was negatively affecting his kidneys. He has been tolerating it well and has been able to remain somewhat active, have a positive attitude and maintain a good quality of life. Of course it's nothing compared to what it used to be.... if you really know him, he was ALWAYS busy, ALWAYS doing for others and ALWAYS there to help.
As we have been for the last 2 years, we can't be more grateful to everyone for their continued support, prayers, kind words and help as we go through this journey with him. We are SO thankful that we chose to go the Roswell for his treatment. His treatment team is beyond amazing, attentive and caring. He definitely would not be where he is today without Roswell.
This year, we want to have the BIGGEST team yet! We can't wait to ride again as a team to support my Dad. Szalkowski Strong all the way! Please consider joining my team - friends, family, EVERYONE is welcome! We will be riding 10 miles along the Niagara River on June 24th at 9:40am! I will be riding WITH my team of friends and family because it means more to do this TOGETHER!
Let's come together and make a difference in the future of cancer research and bringing an end to this devastating disease.
Thank you, again, from the bottom of our hearts!
