Cancer touches all of our lives in one way or another. Our family experienced the care given by Roswell Park during the 1 1/2 years that started with "Spend One Day With Us" while caring for our cousin, Eddie Meinzer in 2016-2017. He was able to have standard chemo and radiation for his metastatic bladder cancer as well as participate in a clinical trial for a new drug which will hopefully help people in the future have a cure for this type of cancer. We give many thanks to the wonderful staff in the Urology Department at Roswell for treating Eddie with the utmost respect and care during his time there. Unfortunately, Eddie passed away in August 2017.
Our son, Andrew, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in August 2022 and consulted with Roswell regarding his treatment. He had surgery and continues active surveillance at the University of Rochester.
I have ridden for the past 9 years in varying capacities. I started as a chaperone rider with my daughter's grammar school and now ride with Team 400 under the amazing leadership of Captain Mark Crotty.
I ride in honor of my mother, Sybilla Hayes, who has survived colon cancer since 1985. She is 92 years old, healthy and strong. I also ride in honor of Andrew, in memory of Eddie and multiple friends, family, co-workers and church friends who our family holds dear in our hearts.
Please consider any donation to the Ride for Roswell. We never know when we will need the expertise of the professional and caring staff of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Thank you!
With much love and thanks, Ron
