-----------
Everyone knows:
1. Buffalo winters are frigid AF.
2. Someone battling or whose life has been taken by cancer.
Here's the thing, though. I have hung around here long enough to adapt to the weather. I learned to dress appropriately and even find ways to embrace and enjoy the chilly outdoors (like cycling on ice!). But I have not yet figured out how to accept the ways in which cancer has negatively impacted my loved ones, nor do I plan to.
Enter IceCycle. This event not only provides Roswell Park with monies needed for research, clinical trials, and patient care programs, but also a real and impactful way to support our loved ones touched by this relentless disease. This will be my third time riding at IceCycle, and I welcome the opportunity to once again take to the chilly ice and spin in honor and remembrance of my loved ones, specifically my father-in-law lovingly referred to as "Papa Joe." This man continues to battle cancer after years of challenges and setbacks; his resilience and refusal to let cancer get the best of him is my personal inspiration. I, once again, ride for him.
And I would be honored to ride for your people, too. If you, like me, have ever felt helpless and don't know where to put your efforts and support, I encourage you to donate and/or participate in this IceCycle event.
