Hi everyone! I am doing this Icecycle ride in honor of my mother, Linda Hale. My mom fought cancer for most of my life, first going into remission from breast cancer when I was in middle school and then restarting her fight again once I was in college. For someone who underwent many medical procedures and treatments, my mom was the most upbeat and inspiring person I've ever met. Not once did she lose her humility, sense of humor, or drive for life. Even towards the end of her battle, she spent a great deal of time making the people around her laugh and reassuring her loved ones that she would be okay. My mom lost her hard fought fight on October 19, 2021. Her loss was felt by a great deal of people and drew together an incredible amount of supportive people to help each other through the difficult time.
My mom always worked to make a difference for individuals with cancer, whether it was performing a selfless act of service for one individual enduring a diagnosis, or teaming up for me to raise money for the Walk for Breast Cancer. When a close friend shared this fundraiser with me, I was drawn to again help those fighting their own battles against cancer. Not only did my mother once work for this wonderful hospital and research clinic, but Roswell Park was also there when my mother needed a second opinion on her medical care. I ask anyone who can to donate and help to make more progress on our fight against cancer. It's a wonderful way to help others and to help honor my mother's memory. The work that Roswell Park does is incredible and I hope that they make more life changing cancer treatment discoveries in the future.
