Last September, a dear friend of George and mine was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. We both helped drive her to doctors and her dog to his vet; baked loaves of her favorite banana bread and made her favorite soups of home-made chicken broth, apples and potatoes. I read her my favorite book club books when she was too tired to read herself. She has endured surgery to remove cancer, radiation and chemo. Her scans this week were good which means the chemo is working and will continue. She is going to physical therapy and is back swimming. Yay Yay Yay. While George and I helped a bit, we learned how strong and courageous my friend is when dealing with cancer, complications and medical insurance bureaucracy. She never said, "Woe is me" instead, she would find a silver lining, like "my wig is nicer than my old hair- cut."
To support my friend, (and other family and friends) I have chosen to raise funds for Roswell Park, because I am on a mission to help end cancer. I don’t want anyone to have to fear the words “you have cancer” again.
You can join me and make a difference by donating to the cutting-edge research and patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Please consider donating today. No donation is too small, and every dollar adds up to something greater than any one of us could accomplish alone. For every dollar raised, Roswell is able to secure an additional $23 in research funding. Together, we can make an impact in this fight!
