With two wheels, I’m going to sweat a lot.
The Empire State Ride Long Island is more than a bike ride. On June 8, 2024, I am cycling 8 miles to raise funds for Catholic Health Cancer Institutes and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to end cancer. My late Mother was a stage-3 Ovarian Cancer survivor who beat cancer and lived more than 20 years after diagnosis before passing away at 92 from unrelated causes. Sadly my Father was not as lucky, and he passed at 79 from lung cancer that had metastisized to the brain. In my larger extended family I have the rare distinction of having has two BILs who passed from pancreatic cancer, plus I know way too many folks who are being treated, or have been treated, for prostate cancer.
The progress made in cancer treatment is remarkable, but anything we can do to bring the day where death from cancer is rare is worthwhile.
Please consider donating to my efforts today. Eight miles is not much but I'm old and fat, and it's been a good solid forty years since I've cycled regularly, so this is a stretch.
