In January 2023, I was diagnosed with Stage 2B triple negative breast cancer. Statistically, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Learning that I was now part of that unlucky group was the scariest time of my life. At 30 years old, I felt alone and as if I didn’t belong. No one understood or could relate; it was the most isolating experience.
A few months into my treatment, I learned of the Roswell Park Young Adult program. This 100% donor and grant funded program offers support and specialized care for patients diagnosed in their 20s and 30s with cancer. I was able to connect with others who “get it”.
16 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, 20 rounds of radiation later, and 8 cycles of oral chemotherapy later, I am a SURVIVOR. And now it’s my turn to give back to the program that has been my strength over the last 13 months. Every single dollar raises will be given to the Young Adult program. Because the program relies on donations, the Ride for Roswell is critical for funding. With your help, we will be able to fund more programming for future patients and their caregivers.
Thank you for being part of my army. Your support means more than you’ll ever know.
