Cancer doesn’t care. It doesn’t care about age. It doesn’t care about your family or friends. It doesn’t care about what it takes from us — or who it leaves behind.
But I care. I care about making a difference in the future of cancer research and bringing an end to this devastating disease. That’s why I am participating in the 2022 Ride for Roswell.
Please help me raise critically needed funds to support the thousands of patients who turn to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center for hope each year. Your donation provides funding researchers need right now to investigate new treatment options that could save lives. For every dollar donated, Roswell Park can leverage an additional $13 in new grant funding!
Cancer is a painfully personal experience for most of us, just like most of us, it is for me. I lost my mother, Antionette, in 2005. Watching her struggle and eventually succumb was truly heartbreaking. She was my literal rescuer, adopting me when I was 3. She never backed down from a fight and I hope to have half of her strength, courage and grace. Unfortunately, she isn't the only one, uncles, aunts, cousins and too many others I loved are now gone. I ride this ride in their memory and to the hope that someday those memories can be something of the past.
The folks at Roswell are some heroic people. The doctors and nurses who care for those stricken with this horrific disease are simply the best. We are now lucky to have them partnered with Ellis hospital and can great care in the Capital District.
The silver lining is the team I am riding with. Team Catino; Duke, Jump ,Jesse and the rest of this wonderful bunch have welcomed me in and I would never be able to make this ride without them. A special thanks goes out to Bill Oak, he brought me into this crazy group. I am forever thankful. Bill and I ride in memory of Matt Nehrbauer who had a passion for life, hearing him talk about riding is the reason I ride.
I want to thank those who can make any donation, we all know how tight finances are these days, so even the smallest amount is appreciated.
Thank you John.
Please consider donating today. Together, we can end cancer!
