Cancer Sucks. And unfortunately, nearly everyone has a story about someone in their life has been affected by it. For me, it’s my Auntie Cheryl and grandfather (Poppy), and is the reason I participate in this ride. They both showed me how to show up for the people you love, and how to stay strong and fight when things get tough.
My Auntie was THE person to go to whenever you needed a smile. Her funny, fun loving, free spirit, and kindness is what the world needs more of.
If he were around today, I know Poppy would make the drive, no matter how far, to come to this ride just to be the loudest one at the starting line, and to to tell me how much faster I could go at the finish. Just as he did consistently making the 2 hour drive to support my brother and I at our youth sports games.
I ride for them, and for everyone else with similar stories so that we can remember them, and help defeat cancer.
