Every year, my family participates in the Ride for Roswell, a fundraising effort for Roswell Park Cancer Institute here in Buffalo, New York. This year is particularly special, as we are riding in memory of my mother, Leslie Shuman Kramer, who was treated there this past year.
My mother was a triumph; full of an incomparable zest for life and living and people. She made everyone she spoke to feel like the most important person in the world. She was full of wisdom and kindness and gratitude and grace. I know I may be biased, but she was truly a rock star. Not a moment goes by that I don't feel the impact and pain of her loss, and I do not suppose there ever will be.
It is difficult for me to even comprehend the way that cancer has absolutely ravaged my family, and it is even more difficult for me to comprehend that our family is just one of many that this disease sinks its claws into.
That is why we must band together and raise money towards the fight against cancer.
If you are able, please consider donating to my ride this year. Every penny makes a difference.
