2022 is in the books.
Start training for 2023 in Feb.
Greetings:
My name is Mark Elia, and I’m reaching out on behalf of the Empire State Ride, a 7- day fund-raising bicycle event, peddling through-out the State of New York, with all proceeds going to the Roswell Cancer Research Institute of Rochester, N.Y. With cutting-edge technology, this Center will not stop until a cure for this horrible disease comes to an end.
This will be my 3rd year entering. The dates are July 22nd to July 29th, 2023. In order to be part of this ride, each one of the almost 220 participants have to donate $3,500., which includes all our meals, snacks, refreshments, camping facilities, etc. Our adventure is 500 plus miles, starting in Staten Island, N.Y., and ending in Niagara Falls, N.Y. As an average, we peddle at least 75 rigorous miles per day, through sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat, but as I have said over and over about this experience, “It’s the worst thing you are ever going to love!!!!”
First and foremost, I ride in honor of my Mom, Lois, who lost her fight to this ugly disease at 53 years young, over 40 years ago. As I mount my bicycle that very first day, and no matter how hard it gets through-out the day, my mind-set is with my many friends and family, that I pay tribute to, who have either passed on or for those strong survivors who are “kicking cancers ASS” every day. My list includes: Uncle Tony, Cousin Cathy, Cousin Tony, Lynette, Tommy, Cousin Ricky , Cousin Vinny, Dawnie, Darlene, Judy, Paul, Zach, and Jerry. For each and every one of them, I will continue to fight !!!!
In closing, I would ask you to please consider donating to this cause so we can eradicate this hideous disease in our lifetime!!!! For the most part, everyone either knows or has had a loved one who has been affected by this, so you know first- hand the toll it takes on all involved. We can all help!!! Again, to Donate, you can go to Empire State Ride.com and look up my name as a participant, or reach out directly to me at 845 742-7625 or you can also drop it in the counter top receptacle in my Bike Shop, (GPa’s Bike Shop), 85 Vineyard Ave., Highland, N.Y. 12528.
Thank you in advance for Caring
Sincerely,
Mark Elia
