The 2024 Ride for Roswell is so important to the Western New York community - and to me personally. On June 22, I will be participating in the Ride this year in honor of my mom, Kathy.
In July 2023, my mom was unexpectedly diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). Although it seemed like my world had stopped, Roswell Park was there to help my mom and my family keep moving and fighting. To date, she has received chemo and radiation treatments, countless scans, biopsies and ultimately a BMT (bone marrow transplant) in October 2023.
Roswell Park has been such a comforting place for all of us over the last 10 months. The care, support, and treatment we have received is best in class. I am riding alongside The Donor Center Team to help bring attention to the blood and platelet donation program, which my mom benefits greatly from as she receives weekly blood and platelet transfusions as part of her recovery.
Participating in the Ride for Roswell this year is extra meaningful, knowing that my mom will personally benefit from funds raised by the Ride. For every dollar donated to cancer research, Roswell Park is now able to leverage an additional $23 in new grant funding. I can promise you every dollar goes towards helping patients overcome their illnesses.
Thank you for your support - it means so much to me, my mom and my family.
XO, Cailin
