Why I ride? First, I ride for my sister Monica. In March 2019 she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. She fought for 15 months, but the Pandemic ended her journey of HOPE. Founded in 1896 by Roswell Park today’s research and treatment facilities provide HOPE and solutions. I ride for myself because the PSA test saved my life, a product of Roswell Cancer Research. I ride because Bob’s sister and daughter were successfully diagnosed and eradicated at Roswell Park. Stories of detection, treatment and rider survival and ongoing care reinforce my commitment to this particular institution, which by design and through the NCI benefits the nation and the world. I wish you could all be there on the Fifth Night, when various survivors share their stories of detection and treatment, there isn’t a dry in the house. Know that cancers are so very, very different even if codified as Pancreatic or Lung, and that is why research is so challenging and extensive. That is also why we need ongoing fund raising, to drill down for a common denominator that works. A dollar donated to the ESR 2024 gets multiplied by 23 times through grants, so this is a BIG raise for small contribution. Dr Joyce Ohm says it best at the following link, https://empirestateride.com/esr-10-million-impact/ and I recommend you read her passion for her commitment to the Ride and Roswell Park.
If you want me to ride in the name of a loved one this year, please leave me a note with your donation and be sure to include your email address so I can respond.
