Hello Family and Friends ♥
I have participated in the Ride for Roswell for the past few years. I originally chose to participate for the following reasons:
I decided to ride in January 2019 for 3 special people.
- My Grammie (Fran VanDette) - Roswell took the best care possible of her when she was diagnosed with and eventually lost her battle to Aplastic Anemia many moons ago, I ride to support researchers, so no more Grammies are taken away too soon.
- Liz Marshall Metcalfe - one of my most favorite humans, who if not for Roswell Park saving her life by helping her beat breast cancer I would have never had the opportunity to meet.
- Scherrie Beiring who battled pancreatic cancer and gained angel wings in late 2018.
Then in March 2019, cancer hit really close to home and quite frankly pissed me off when my brother (Tommy Poeller) was diagnosed with Lymphoma.
In the beginning of 2022, I thought cancer couldn't hit any harder. But, sure enough, it did. My mom was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in June.
So this year, I am fundraising for the Ride for Roswell in honor of my mom. Roswell has so much to offer cancer patients going through active treatment, survivors, and caregivers. I now know first hand.
