Canada, here I come!
I am committing to participate in the Ride for Roswell 2023 Fundraising campaign on June 24th. The US/Canada borders are (finally) open to The Ride after a three-year hiatus and I have signed up for the 44-mile Canada Route that goes from Roswell Park in Buffalo, across the Peace Bridge into Canada, along the Niagara Parkway to Niagara Falls and the Rainbow Bridge, back into the States, ending at the University at Buffalo north campus. I can’t wait to share the enthusiasm and spirit of riding the roads of WNY and Canada with family, friends and like-minded strangers to find a cure for all cancers.
To recap, my 2022 Ride for Roswell was a great financial success thanks to all of you who supported my campaign. Together we raised an amazing $1565! Your donations provided researchers with the funds needed to investigate new treatment options that could save lives. And for every dollar you donated Roswell Park was able to leverage $13 in new grant funding.
I had planned to ride a 45-mile route last year. Unfortunately, my ride was cut short by a spill at the 34-mile mark that left me with a lot of road rash and three fractured ribs. This is the second major spill on my bike in the past few years that resulted in fractured ribs. Gail is threatening to wrap me in bubble wrap and put training wheels on my bike. That’s not going to happen!
Happily, all my injuries have healed, and I am ready to ride again. My goals are to raise $1500 and complete the 44-mile Canada route in an upright position, skin and bones in their pre-race condition. Your generous past support and encouragement inspires me to train for the 3-hour ride. I am confident I will do the distance and with your generous support reach my fundraising goal. If you feel motivated to donate towards my 2023 RFR campaign– great! I realize that the economy and inflation has taken a bite out of everyone’s family budget. Donations to the Ride for Roswell may not fit into the family budget. That’s okay… your emotional support is just as important and appreciated.
Thanks for your support... and (as always) Go Bills!
