Like everyone, I know many people who have been affected by cancer. My dad, Ed Surowiec, has been receiving treatments for bladder cancer for about 5 years. Early on Dad's oncologist told us about how his bladder patients don't like him because of the unpleasant nature of the treatments. Dad has not complained through it all, and his positive outlook has been an inspiration to me. In my job, I have the opportunity to interact with many cancer patients and their family members. I am inspired by their courage and strength in the face of great adversity.
This year I'll be riding with my wife Amy, who will be riding for the first time. Amy works at Oshei Children's Hospital and has had the opportunity to help numerous oncology patients and their families. We will be doing the 20 mile river route.
Thank you to everyone who donated. It feels good to be back "together" for the ride this year. It is one of the great things to be involved with in Buffalo.
