As some of you know, I am gearing up for my second year participating in the Empire State Ride, a challenging 500+ mile bike journey across New York State. Last year, thanks to the incredible support of friends like you, our group raised over $2 million dollars. This year, we're aiming even higher, and I'm reaching out to you for your help.
In my capacity at Roswell Park, I have been privileged to meet some extraordinary children and teens courageously battling cancer. Their resilience and spirit have left an indelible mark on my heart. Yet, alongside these moments of hope, I've also witnessed the heartbreaking reality when these young warriors run out of options. The day when families must transition from curative to palliative care is an experience that changes your very core. It's a soul-crushing moment when there are no more treatment avenues to explore, and the focus shifts from curing to providing the best quality of life possible. The weight of these decisions, the pain in the eyes of the families, and the courage of the children facing an uncertain future leave an indescribable impact.
This is why our mission is so critical. The funds we raise through the Empire State Ride directly contribute to clinical trials, offering a glimmer of hope for those who have exhausted conventional treatments. Your support can make a tangible difference in the lives of these families, providing comfort, resources, and a sense of dignity during these challenging times.
I implore you to consider joining me in supporting Roswell Park and honoring these brave souls—especially those we have lost. Your contribution can make a meaningful impact, ensuring that no family has to face this journey alone and that the road ahead holds promise for others.
