From the Peloton Ride 2021
Ride For Roswell 2023
I am participating in The Ride For Roswell on Saturday, June 24. This is much more than a bike ride for me - it's my commitment to the fight to end cancer!
This year will be my 7th year participating in the Ride for Roswell. I will be challenging myself once again to do the 65 mile country route as well as the Peloton on Friday June 23.
In the past I have dedicated my ride to my mom, my cousin Jim as well as other family members and friends who sadly have not survived. Unfortunately the number of people I ride for is too long to list everyone. The list gets longer every year and that is NOT OK with me!
As I do every year I dedicate my ride to someone I know. This year I am going to ride in honor of Mervyn Short. He is our relative from the United Kingdom. He is currently battling cancer. He has been bravely battling this horrible disease with mostly good results! I am praying for a successful treatment and for him to be cancer free!!
This year I am also riding in memory of my good friend Gary Schlegel. He passed away in November from multiple myeloma. Gary was my very dear friend and mentor. Gary not only spoke about his faith in Jesus, he lived it! Cancer once again took the life of a precious soul way too early! Gary will be sorely missed by myself and many others!
In addition to riding in Mervyn’s honor and in memory of Gary, I will also be riding for all my family, friends, neighbors and relatives who have been affected by, or have succumbed to cancer. It is my hope that my efforts in riding and raising money, will help find a cure for people affected by this devastating disease.
My goal this year is to raise $5000 dollars. By raising this amount it will allow me to place an engraved brick, in the walk of life at Kaminski Park. If I achieve my goal I will dedicate my brick to family and friends who lost their battle with cancer.
Let’s help find a cure for this horrible disease!! Will you join me by supporting my Ride for Roswell? There is no amount that is too small and any amount is greatly appreciated!
Thank You for your generosity & support!!
John
