It's that time of the year again - I am very excited to be returning for the 2022 Ride for Roswell!! The Ride for Roswell is the nation's largest cycling event that brings people together to celebrate survivors, pay tribute to those we’ve lost and share in the passion that connects us all: finding cures for cancer. This year, I will be joining The National Ski Patrol - Western New York Region team, and I am planning on riding a 10 mile route at UB's North Campus on June 25th to raise money for cancer research!
Roswell Park was thrust into my family's life in 2016 with my dad's diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Nearly 6 years ago, he lost his brief, 3-week battle with cancer. We are eternally grateful for the entire staff at Roswell and the wonderful way that they treated my dad in his final days, and it is my hope that contributions made through the Ride for Roswell will lead to increasingly more effective cancer treatments.
Since that day in 2016, I have been involved at Roswell Park in multiple ways - I have participated in the Ride for Roswell in 2019, 2020, & 2021 (raising a total of $5,977 for cancer research), I have donated blood, I volunteered at Roswell throughout undergrad (in the transportation services department and at the front desk of the clinical sciences center), I shadowed multiple physicians at Roswell that exponentially increased my desire to pursue medicine, I participated in 3 internships at Roswell (researching a novel anti-cancer drug and collecting data to evaluate prostate cancer treatment guidelines), and my very first medical student rotation was there last year. Meeting healthcare professionals, patients, and families through these avenues has been incredibly rewarding for me over these last 6 years.
I am very excited to be participating in the Ride again this year, and I thank you for your support!!
