SO EXCITING !!!!!!! This will be my 9th year riding 500 miles across New York State from Manhattan to Niagara Falls to benefit Cancer Research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, a cause most near and dear to my heart. It was one week after I finished treatment in 2016 for breast cancer that I first participated in this ride and I haven’t looked back since. After all of the challenges I faced that year and in acknowledging that this cause meant a great deal to me, I can honestly say that this ride became and will forever remain one of the highlights and most memorable and amazing experiences of my life, aside from having my children of course.
It also became apparent that the cycling of 500 miles became secondary to everything else I had achieved and got out of that week. As you will notice from the many many pictures I have posted over the last nine years, the bonds of friendship which became family, the strength it provided to my mind and body, the gorgeous scenery our precious New York State has to offer and most importantly the ability to focus on happiness and living every day to it's fullest became overwhelmingly more apparent. Every year the astounding scenery and iconic moments get better and better and THIS 8th YEAR will be another ride to remember, no doubt.
Overall it is an amazing group of a growing number of extraordinary individuals who ALL come together for their own reasons, but with the same purpose, to raise awareness and support for Cancer Research for Roswell Park. And that we do every year !!!! Last year, together, we raised over $2 Million for Cancer Research in the fight to end cancer, now more than ever, Roswell Park has cutting edge research that needs our help.
One that comes to my mind first and foremost is Dr. Robert Fenstermaker's SurVaxM study, which has made strides in the area of newly diagnosed Glioblastoma and will be made readily available for eligible patients across the United States, Canada and China. This year will mark its 10 year anniversary as well and it recently made NBC World News Report as the leading vaccine trial for newly diagnosed Glioblastoma patients. AMAZING!!!!
We can do this with the addition of even more riders and your generous donations.
Everyone knows someone whose life has been effected by cancer, and this is my opportunity to change the state of cancer research for good. Together, we can fuel groundbreaking discoveries, find cancer cures and save lives.
This year I ride for those who are currently fighting the battle and for those who have fought and lost. In honor of some dear friends: Mrs. Megan Goldman, Mrs. Meg Robertson, Dr. David Brown, Mr. Steve Mars, Ms. Maria Thor, Mr. Frank Parisi, Mr. Mark Hutchinson, and Mrs. Rosemary DiLeo and in Memorial to those we have lost: Mrs. Margaret Rose Weber, Mr. Giacomo Casucci, Cheryl Reinhardt, Mrs. Rosaria Philippone, Mr. Paul Murphy, Mr. Michael Bycina, and Mr. Robert Rich Sr. Please consider making a donation today. No donation is too small, and every dollar adds up to something greater than any one of us could accomplish alone.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Danielle Devlin-Casucci
