For the past several years, I have volunteered for the Ride for Roswell with Praxair/Linde. About seven years ago, I held a tribute card with someone's name and the word "lymphoma" on it before the Peloton (a special Ride for people that raise at least $1000 in donations take an honorary Ride from Roswell Park to the University of Buffalo for a special Celebration of Hope). This person was fighting the disease from within Roswell Park Cancer Institute. I paid tribute to them and prayed for them as I held the card up high.
Never would I have realized that I would be diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the end of August in 2015. I spent "just one day" at Roswell in late August 2015. That day would forever change me, and our family. The kind people at Roswell handed me a blue folder and gave me a green card with a patient number. I became part of a special club. I fought hard to beat cancer with the support of so many family members, friends, co-workers, and total strangers who would see me at Roswell and told me that they would pray for me. Every single prayer and positive thought has helped.
In February 2021, I was given the most incredible news! I'm a SURVIVOR!! My cancer is gone, and will hopefully stay that way FOREVER. I fought hard through 6 rounds of harsh chemotherapy (every 3 weeks from 09/04/15-12/18/15), The type of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma was very aggressive. I lost my hair, but never my spirit. My three young daughters fought hard alongside me. It was so difficult for them, but we never gave up...we never gave in!! I fought hard to be the best Mom possible for them, and continue to do so today!! My family wouldn't allow me to quit, and I wouldn't even think about it!!
This will be my eighth year Riding for Roswell. My daughters, my Mom and my Dad have participated every year since, through riding and/or volunteering!! This year, I plan on riding with my daughters!! Roswell has changed our lives forever, and does for so many people. Our company gives back to our community in so many ways! Linde is a huge corporate sponsor of the Ride for Roswell and has been for many years. On our site, we will hold a bike raffle, a basket raffle and a hot dog lunch sale to help raise more funds for Roswell Park. I am so fortunate to work for a company that gives back, and I can tell you personally that when I was going through cancer treatment, my co-workers helped in my fight!
I am participating in The Ride For Roswell!! This is much more than a bike ride for our family — it’s our commitment to the fight to end cancer!!
Please help me raise critically needed funds for cutting-edge cancer research and compassionate patient-care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Your donation to my ride might provide the funding that the researchers at Roswell Park need in order to investigate new treatment options that can save lives. These therapies can provide cutting-edge treatment choices to patients in our own community and in cancer centers worldwide.
The funds raised from the Ride for Roswell go directly to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that manages all donations to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. These funds help support the cutting-edge cancer research and full range of patient-care programs offered at Roswell Park. From researchers and physicians to patients and their families, everyone who joins in the Ride for Roswell is working together to reach a common goal: to end cancer.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach (and exceed) my fundraising goal. Together, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
