With one in two men and one in three women in America being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, most of us know someone who has been affected by this devastating disease. As you know this disease has touched my family deeply. My mom passed away from lung cancer in January 2013 and that following year, Donna was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer. Six months after successful cancer surgery; during her scheduled CT Scan in November 2015 we learned the news that the Colorectal cancer had metastasized to her lungs. It's been almost 3 1/2 years since Donna went home to Jesus peacefully in her sleep after her 6 year journey.
So this is why I "Ride for Roswell", in hope that the money I raise will help find new treatments to help all those who are still on their journey. Since my retirement, we wanted to continue the race to end cancer by forming a team exclusively in memory of Donna. We are called "Donna's Disco Dynamos" in recognition of her love of Disco! This is our 2nd year with the new team. I'm also riding this year for the cause to lower the age for testing as there is a high rate of younger people being diagnosed with this form of cancer. We are very grateful for the doctors and nurses at Roswell Park and their exhaustive efforts through assistance from the Roswell Park Alliance. I truly believe they gave Donna the best of care and extended her life. You can make a difference by supporting me in The Ride For Roswell. Funds raised through The Ride support this cutting-edge research and compassionate, innovative patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. This 28th anniversary ride is on June 24, 2023. Please consider making a donation today. Together, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
