The Empire State Ride (ESR) is more than just a bike ride. I am participating in a cycling adventure across New York State to end cancer. 500+ miles!
In 2019 I took on this challenge and decided to take it on again as it was a very moving and worth while. experience. As many of you know I was ready to go for 2020 and due to COVID it was cancelled. Instead I completed a local 1000 mile in one month challenge. I still remember when Barb and I went to a Sabres hockey game (2019) and it was called the Roswell night in honor of all cancer victims, survivors and those currently in treatment. Well they marched out 50 people on the ice, survivors and those in treatment while on the Jumbotron people discussing their stories. To say the least, we were moved. Then they announce that cancer is indiscriminate and the last two people walking on the ice were a 4 year old boy and an 82 year old man, each going through treatment. The two of them took each others hand and walked out. Choked up, I went to Barb and said, "I guess I'm doing the ride again" and she said, "I guess you are".
All donations go directly to cutting edge cancer research at Roswell Park Cancer Center. Your donations also qualify me to participate in the Ride For Roswell, which I plan on riding the 105 mile route again.
Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer. This is my opportunity to change the state of cancer research for good. Together, we can fuel groundbreaking discoveries, find cancer cures and save lives.
It would be my honor to represent your donation. Please consider making a donation to my efforts today. No donation is too small, and every dollar adds up to something greater than any one of us could accomplish alone. Let’s make a difference together.
The ride starts in NYC on July 25th and ends in Niagara Falls on July 31st. 500+ miles with challenging altitude climbs but with like minded people "RIDING FOR A CURE". I'll be tent camping, showering in portable showers or school physical Ed departments. I'll be eating under pitched tents and stops on the road. Look at the web site and track the route I'll be riding! On July 31st, come to Niagara Falls and cheer our return home!
If you have already given through someone else or decide not to at this time, that's OK. Don't be intimated into donating. Do it for your own good reason, not mine. Do though wish me well and send a prayer.
Please let me know if you have someone in mind that has succumbed to this terrible disease or are suffering now so I can carry their name with me and have them in my prayers and thoughts as I take on this journey.
The minimum donation goal for each rider is $3500. Please be as generous as you can afford. If the goal is not met I will cover the shortfall myself.
Please share this page with others to help me for this cause. I surely appreciate it and as always your donation, thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul
