SO MANY LIVES ARE TOUCHED BY CANCER
Most, if not all of us know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. This disease presents a formidable foe not only for the patient, but for family and friends. I know this first hand and am proud to be riding in memory and honor of the following:
My father, Lucian Benczkowski lost his battle to prostate cancer
Dolores Liss, my mother in-law, who was taken by ovarian cancer
Alice Burczynski, my aunt who lost her battle with Ovarian cancer
Maryann Pawlowski, my aunt and godmother who was taken by breast cancer
Agatha Caggiano, my best friend’s mother that succumbed to pancreatic cancer
Mike Meier, brother of old friends (Matt & Joanne), who passed in 2017
David Kaminski, an old friend and teammate who now looks down on us (May 9, 2018)
Joe Lacki, childhood neighbor and strong family friend, fallen to pancreatic cancer on July 30, 2019, up there enjoying a beer with my father
Donald "GUS" Buczek, another old friend and JFK Alum & golf partner taken by pancreatic cancer (November 28, 2019)
I will pedal extra hard again this year for my champions, Kathie Cipressi and cousin Joe Astyk who continue their fights, along with old friends Matt Meier, Toby Wanderlich, and Karen Howard who today are cancer free and stand tall amongst the survivors.
You can help make a difference for others facing this disease by supporting me in The Ride For Roswell.
