Do you know anyone that hasn't been touched by cancer? I doubt any of us can make that claim. For us in Western New York, Roswell Park provides the care for those affected by cancer. A leader in cancer research and care nationally we are lucky to have it in our backyard.
Once again, I am doing my Ride, in Memory of my good friend from college Margaret Calfee Maynard. In three years of Pharmacy School at Samford we became lifetime friends. Her battle with cancer was a true inspiration to all who knew her. She was taken much to soon.
But I also ride in Memory of others. I don't remember my Grannie that well anymore, but she died of cancer before I was in school. My Dad died of cancer when I was 14. Talk about lasting impressions of cancer, to this day, I still remember having to pick him up and put him in his wheelchair, in his last days.
My friend Dave Lambe, from Tonawanda Soccer and my cousin Mary Lynn, both taken way too soon. My friends Pat Roach and Dave "Elvis" Turkon( I know you hated that name), too soon!
I know there are others and I mean no disrespect to any of them. I ride in the memory of all of them and those unfortunately that will have to deal with this scourge in the future.
Please support my Ride to support the many good things that are and can happen at Roswell Park with your support. Thank you for your support in this noble cause!
Cancer doesn’t care. It doesn’t care about age. It doesn’t care about your family or friends. It doesn’t care bout what it takes from us — or who it leaves behind.
