The Ride for Roswell brings together our community with one mission – to end cancer. Cancer doesn’t stop and neither can we. And because cancer patients are some of society’s most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic, our mission is more important now than ever before.

When Mike and I started doing The Ride 26 years ago, we said we were so fortunate to not know any Roswell patients. At that point, our friends and family had been cancer-free, for the most part. But we always knew that we were so fortunate to have such an excellent facility as Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The hospital and research center has continued to make vast improvements.

Unfortunately, we now know too many past and current patients at Roswell. In 2012 my younger sister, Diane, was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma, GIST. We immediately ensured that she come back to Western NY so that she could be treated by Roswell physicians. I am happy to say that she is now in remission.

And then, in 2017 my older sister, Ellie, was diagnosed with lung cancer. Again, there was no question as to where she would seek treatment. Ellie fought a hard battle, but passed away in July 2018, just 2 weeks after we had done the Ride in her honor. So we now ride in her memory.
