With one in two men and one in three women in America being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, most of us know someone who has been affected by this devastating disease. You can make a difference by supporting me in The Ride For Roswell. Funds raised through The Ride support cutting-edge research and compassionate, innovative patient care programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Please consider making a donation today. Together, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
Personally, cancer has affected several members of my family. My Grandmother Olga and my aunt Pierrette passed away after battling the disease, and my uncles Richard and Jim have both beat their cancer battles. I have had over 20 moles removed and I wear SPF 100 sunscreen so that I don't tempt fate with skin cancer.
I rode the 30 mile river route in 2014, the 45 mile country route in 2015 and 2016, was a virtual rider for 2017, rode the 44 mile Canada route in 2018, the 45 mile country route in 2019, did not ride in 2020 due to the global pandemic, "Rode my own way" in 2021, and returned to the 45 mile country route in the 2022 Ride! This year I'm venturing across the border again with the 44 mile Canada route, and I cannot wait to be back on a bike outdoors with the wind on my face, crushing cancer one push of the pedal at a time! :)
And I've decided to do something a little bit crazy this year, and this year only... I've never raised more than $1,200, so I don't know if it's possible, but I've set my goal to $5,000! If I raise more than $5,000, I will shave my head... I may regret saying this, since I really don't want to shave my head, but a promise is a promise :) If you want to see what I look like with no hair, donate to my fundraising goal!
