This is our 15th anniversary of our Mike's Rough Riders' team and will be the fourteenth anniversary of the April 28, 2009 plane crash that took the life of my brother, Mike Doran, and his associate Matt Schnirel. Both Mike and Matt dedicated themselves to supporting the breakthrough research and cancer treatments at Roswell. We continue to keep Julia’s nephew Jonathan in our thoughts and prayers. Jonathan was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2015, and he is doing well.
Mike, in his first ever Ride for Roswell in 2008, raised in excess of $8,000 and worked with Roswell to raise awareness of a Lung Cancer Registry aimed at early detection of lung cancer in high-risk patients among his railroad clients. It’s an amazing legacy that we try to continue each and every year.
We are driven by the fact that one out of two men and one in three women in America will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and most of us know someone who has successfully battled cancer. My mother-in-law is a 50 year plus survivor of breast cancer, but sadly, my brother-in-law’s wife Caroline lost her battle against a relentless brain tumor in 2010 as well as my Aunt Rosemary who lost her battle with cancer in 2012.
Please join or help support my ride so that we can continue the mission. My goal is to raise $2,500. This will be our sixth year with the Kids Just Want to Have Fun team.
Thank you again for considering a donation and helping me to support Roswell Park’s mission to understand, prevent and cure cancer.
