Hello, Ride fans!
It’s that time of year. I’m dusting off my bike for the 2023Ride for Roswell. Dear God, help me. One of these years soon, I’ll have my head examined!
I ride for so many reasons. I am a cancer survivor. Twenty-four years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I thank Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center for seeing me through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation with a smile and a kind word by every staffer at every turn. Their knowledge and dedication gave me back my life.
I ride because I am not the only one in our family who has had to face up to cancer. I ride in honor of my sister Jean and my brother Tom, also survivors of the cancer battles.
And I ride because we all know so many people who have faced the challenge. We have lost loved ones, but we can say we know more and more survivors every year.
Here’s my ride plan. Someone my age and ability level should not be riding in a crowd. So I have mapped out a solo run, in the outer harbor. It is a beautiful bike path and I have scouted out a 10 mile route. Not overly ambitious but it will get the job done. I plan on doing the ride several times bc it’s so beautiful.
Please support me as I ride for this great, great program. Funds raised through The Ride support cutting-edge research and compassionate, innovative patient care programs at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Please consider making a donation today. Together, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
