Eighteen years ago, I woke up excited to bike 20 miles for Sean's Rockin Reds with no practice. Fast forward to 2023 and now I have to "practice" a little and this year do some PT for a bad shoulder! Am I getting old? YES.
This year, after covid lockdown, we have started to "live normally" and I couldn't be happier. However, during that same timeframe, 288,000 individuals were diagnosed with cancer and patients of Roswell. SOUNDS BLEAK however 2/3 are still fighting because of the advance in technologies, therapies and support services that Roswell and other cancer centers are now equipped with.
The Ride has certainly helped with the success. Last year, 7,700 riders rode with determination. Hannah, Tyler and myself biked the 10 mile route at UB and helped raise $5.6 million for Roswell of which $4010 was my personal best!
Indeed, "we have come a long way" with exciting weapons to ultimately win the war against cancer. Roswell's opening of community sites around our region allows patients to be closer to their home! Over 7,000 patients are in clinical trials because of your generosity.
Riding with Hannah and Tyler gives me the motivation to DO IT for the next generation so they don't have to lose as many friends and family that all of us have. Can't do it without you, though.
