I am participating in The Ride For Roswell on Saturday, June 25. This is much more than a bike ride for me; it’s my commitment to the fight to end cancer in loving memory of my cousin, Jake.
After a 10-year battle with cancer, Jake passed on April 17, 2018. He is very much missed. He never let cancer define him and lived life to the highest standards, including throughout his time as an oncology nurse at Roswell Park. Although I don't particularly enjoy cardio or endurance events (understatement!), Jake loved to ride and he never took for granted all his body could do - even during the most challenging times. So, Jake, this one's for you!
Jake believed in the mission of Roswell Park and was committed day by day to ensuring his patients received the best care he and his team could provide. Help me raise critically needed funds for cancer research and compassionate patient-care programs in memory of Jake. Your donation to my ride might provide the funding that the researchers at Roswell Park need in order to investigate new treatment options that can save lives. These therapies can provide cutting-edge treatment choices to patients in our own community and in cancer centers worldwide. Jake would attest to that. He lived his life one day at a time, knowing any day could be the day a new treatment became available that could save his life. Although he's no longer with us, he received exceptional medical care from the team at Roswell Park (and through Roswell's national connections) that did indeed prolong his life and ensured he lived the highest quality of life possible for 10 years.
All funds raised by Team Madonia will be donated directly to sarcoma research.
Please consider a donation in memory of Jake.
