This is my second time participating in the Empire State Ride. The first time was in 2018. This time I will be riding in honor and memory of my Mom, who sadly passed away on February 4, 2024, after a 5 1/2 year battle with esophageal cancer. Mom was initally diagnosed in July 2018 on the day I left to head to Wagner College to particpate in the ESR. She was treated successfully at Roswell, but the cancer returned in April 2022.
During the last year and 1/2 of her life, she was fortunate to receive a relatively new cryotherapy treatment that extended both the duration and quality of her life. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Robillard and the staff of 3 West for treating her with loving care and compassion. The care provided by Dr. Robillard and his team allowed my mom to enjoy another full year of life during which she was able to attend her youngest grandchild's graduation from 8th grade, witness the birth of her 7th and 8th great grandchildren and celebrate her 90th Birthday.
On the 10th anniversary of Empire State Ride, I’ve committed to cycling more than 500 miles from NYC to Niagara Falls for one reason: to end cancer. This is my opportunity to shape the future of cancer research and treatment while honoring my Mom and everyone affected by cancer by continuing to raise funds to support innovative treatments and cutting-edge research.
Mile by mile, year by year, we're getting closer to finding cures. Please consider making a donation to support these efforts.
Thank you!
