This year the Ride for Roswell will be different. Yes it's the 25th year but no we did not have the June 26-27 celebration. However, on June 28th 25 riders celebrated 25 years with a great ride out of UB. The community-wide event is actually being held in the first few weeks of August - with the same goal - to attract people from all walks of life, and all with the same objective - to beat cancer. For some like me it is personal. My pharyngeal cancer treatment at RPCCC is now over three years in the rear view mirror. I am riding to thank Roswell, but I am also riding for those who are fighting the good fight as you read this. For others it's about a bigger vision - to rid the world of this scourge that takes so many of us way too early. Over the past three years - thanks to so many of you - I have raised about $47,000 to support the patients and research at RPCCC.
I am cured because of the revolution in cancer research in the past decade. Researchers and physicians are beginning to understand the causes of cancer and are making inroads into new methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment. All of us can be at risk for cancer. My cancer was caused by a virus; who knew? Like most of you I have dear friends who have been successfully treated, and I have lost family and friends to this disease. All of them will be in my thoughts as I ride.
Please help support me in this important project by contributing generously. Your tax-deductible contribution is greatly appreciated.
Whatever you can give will help – it all adds up!! Thank you for your support and I will keep you posted on my progress.
