I am privileged this year to ride in honor of one of my best lifetime friends and Solon (Ohio) High School buddies, Pat Horgan, whose personal cancer journey is an inspiring testimony worthy of serious consideration. Here is what he says...
"A colon cancer diagnosis in 2017 led to a colectomy and “remission”, but it later spread to both lungs. Surgery removed one nodule, followed by 28 weeks of chemotherapy – 3 day infusions every 2 weeks - then radiation for the second lung tumor. After my initial diagnosis, I researched the impact of nutrition on cancer. During treatment I adopted a Whole Food Plant Based diet, with no sugar, salt, oils or processed foods. I lost 50 pounds, regained normal blood pressure, lowered cholesterol, stopped sleep apnea, and left the cancer behind. No recurrence in over 5 years."
So hat's off, fist bumps and lingering applause for Pat and his message to all of us. NUTRITION DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
