Why do I ride in the RIDE to help find a cure for CANCER?
I RIDE because it's the ONLY thing I can do to help in the fight against cancer. I RIDE because words aren't enough when family or friends lose their battle with cancer, lose a loved one to cancer or have to fight this horrific disease.
I RIDE because I can spend time honoring those who lost their fight to this disease and those who are fighting this disease as well as their family and the doctors, nurses, medical professionals, medical staff, fundraisers, volunteers and other riders all who share a common goal ending cancer.
And my focus has changed over the last few years from the losses to cancer to the wins against cancer so I RIDE FOR and WITH the survivors - many who I am honored to call dear friends. I have been honored to cycle many many miles with them at events and for fun! Those survivors, living their lives to the fullest with their families, are all the PROOF that I need to know the efforts to fight cancer and cure cancer via research funded by fundraising are working!
In the 18+ years I've been riding, since losing my mom to cancer and Adam losing his dad, I can truly say I've seen a difference. Is there magic cure no but I routinely hear and I now KNOW people who won their battle against cancer, living cancer free as a result of treatments developed right here at Roswell.
The statistics remain 1 in 3 American's will be diagnosed with cancer. You know my story my mom, my dad, and Adam's dad all impacted by cancer.
I have friends (as I am sure you do too) who have lost their soul mates, spouses, moms, dads, siblings, friends, and sadly even their children to cancer.
As I have traveled for work and talked about Roswell and the fundraising rides, I have met so many colleagues around the world who have lost loved ones to cancer.
I have seen first hand that Roswell is fighting the good fight and making strides to beat this disease so RIDING to raise funds is the only thing I can do.
Please join me in this fight with whatever donation you can make each $1 donated can result in $23 of grant money for Roswell.
I'd be honored to RIDE this ride in honor of your loved ones fighting this battle too. Please just tell me their name when you make your donation.
Best personal regards, Lorrie
