To my dear friends, family, and fellow advocates,
This year will mark my 10th year participating in the Ride for Roswell. I've been a volunteer many times over, a virtual fundraiser during "the Covid years," and this year I intend to actually ride for the first time.
All who know me are aware that I ride in memory of my late husband Rick. I also ride to support the research of Rick's incredible surgeon Dr. Skitzki.
Rick Runfola was a man of great character, a devoted father, loyal son, and if you knew him just right – a big goofball. He was my incredible husband. He taught me so much about love, partnership, and family. We somehow brought out the very best in each other in almost every situation.
My life looks very different today than it did when I attended my first Ride. I still miss Rick with my whole heart. I mourn his loss and I mourn the future we did not get to explore together.
I do my best to live fully even with the loss always present. I seek out joy and I work to give back where I can. I have created a full and rewarding life for which I'm very grateful.
I'm very aware how many different directions we are all pulled in with our donation dollars. There are more worthy causes than I can count. I wish it were not the case that there was so much need in the world, but I understand the reality. I humbly ask for contributions to my tenth Ride.
If you are in a position to donate to my fund, I would as always be incredibly grateful. Each dollar raised by my team will go directly to research in Rick's surgeon's lab.
Very sincerely,
Stacey
