In the last week of July, Team Holiday Valley will again embark on a journey across New York State, riding our bikes from Staten Island to Niagara Falls in support of the fantastic cancer research happening at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our small team has grown each year and we'll be bigger than ever this year with no fewer than 14 riders. Together with the rest of the Empire State Ride community we collectively raised over $2M in 2023, and each dollar is matched 23X by federal programs.

The journey across the state takes 7 days and involves a fair bit of pedaling (of course), but there's also rain, heat, hills, peanut butter sandwiches, flat tires, and headwinds. While we will certainly remember these things, it's not why we ride. To truly appreciate the ESR is to recognize the people involved: the volunteers, the organizers, the researchers who speak, and most importantly the survivors who ride and share their story. They all make us understand that in doing something for the benefit of others, we enrich and feed the soul.
