I wanted to share with everyone the WHY behind my support for Roswell Park through the Ride for Roswell. Two years ago on February 9th I was able to go with Bob to his follow appointment with his oncologist. After 2 years of daily chemotherapy, all of his bloodwork looks really good. The treatment was a SUCCESS! To my surprise he asked his physician's assistant if this meant that he could ring the bell signifying the successful end of treatment. Now I don't know why he asked today because there have been many times over the past 8 years that he could have rung the bell. I am so thankful that I was able to be there with him...it was a very emotional experience. When he asked the PA told him, YES!, but asked that he wait a few minutes so that he could go down with him to celebrate. We are extremely blessed that Bob's treatments have been successful and that every time his CLL has come back there has been a new treatment for him thanks to the research that is being done at Roswell.
I am so incredibly thankful for all of your support over the last 7 years that I have been riding. I ride to honor all of those who are fighting the battle with cancer and those that have lost the fight. There are times that I feel so helpless as those that I love fight, but the Ride for Roswell helps me to do something to show my support and help in the battle against cancer in the hopes that one day we will have a cure. I hope that you will consider donating to support Roswell Park and the fight against cancer! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
Together, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
Love, Melissa and Team Funke
