First, I want to thank you for considering to donating to my Ride. At age 22, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Anyone who has been told they have cancer understands the gravity of the diagnosis. It truly hits you at your core, especially being so young. A week after my 23rd birthday, I underwent a total thyroidectomy. Unfortuantly, during that surgery my right side vocal cord nerve was severed and I could not speak for a long time. Since then I have had a few more surgeries, speech therapy, as well as taking the time to help myself heal and I now can speak. After some treatment to ablate the cancer, I can also now say I am in my 12th year in remission!! Amen!
A diagnosis like that really makes you think about the gravity of life, what is really important, that we only have one life to live so we must spread joy and love to others. Also, we must help others as much as we can, even if it is a little bit.
The Ride for Roswell will continue to be special to me because at the finish line my now husband proposed to me in 2016. We then got married the day of the Ride for Roswell in 2017. Then had our little boy in 2018!
