Wow, I cannot believe 2024 marks a major milestone in my Ride for Roswell Journey. This will be my 10th year participating in this fundraising event for Cancer Research, Patient Treatments, and Community Outreach programs for both patients and their loved ones. Each year my list of family and friends that I ride in the honor or memory of continues to grow. This past year was no different, as I had to add 2 names to my list below. My dream / hope is that at some point we can get a head of Cancer and make it curable.
Why I ride:
The Ride for Roswell helps raise funds to fight cancer on all levels, not just for cancer research. Donations are used to improve the patient and family experience, quality-of-life programs, support new clinical treatments and procedures, provide proper clinical space to meet the increasing demand for cancer services, and educate the next generation of cancer scientists and clinicians. Some of the quality-of-life programs are free wigs and head coverings for patients through Roswell Park’s Resource Center, comfort kits for patients’ overnight hospital stays, and daily craft activities.
I ride in the Memory / Honor of:
- My Mother
- My Father and Mother -In-Law, Robert & Nancy Turner.
- My Grandparents Pat and Bernard Stankiewicz
- My Aunt Janet Umberger
- My Cousin In-Law, Jennifer Mzili
- My Friends: Missy Sprouse, Dawne Flammger, Rebecca Michalovic, Charles, Craig Butler, Neal Ginsberg
- My co-workers / colleagues: Tom Sicari, Renee Gennocro
Over the last nine years I've raised over $19,000. I plan to continue these efforts, and I'm hoping this year to raise another $2,500 toward this wonderful cause. With your support and donation, we can help find cancer cures and save lives.
I ask for donations of all sizes, including the loose change in your pocket / wallet. Every penny, nickel, dime, or quarter adds up. And I’m always on the lookout for change that has been dropped and forgotten about, which I consider to be my donations from Heaven.
This year’s ride takes place on June 22nd. I am asking for your continued support and donations.
Thank you for your continued support,
Roxanne
