This year I am Riding for Roswell in honor of Brian Long & in memory of my best friend Conor J. Long. There are so many amazing things I could say about Conor and how he impacted everyone he met within the WNY Community. Conor taught all of us how to make the most out of life no matter what the circumstances were. He also made sure he did whatever it took to go the extra mile and help those in need. Conor has an older brother Brian Long. Brian had been diagnosed with Leukemia as a child and was able to overcome it. Conor always told me that growing up, Brian was his hero and he always looked up to him. Brian is currently Chair of The Conor J. Long Foundation which was started in 2018 to continue Conor’s legacy in the WNY community.
Conor was my best friend and was like a brother to me. I grew up an only child so Conor always had my back and I always had his like brothers do. There’s not a day that goes by that I do not think about my best friend. The 20 miles that I will be biking along with others on the #BeLikeConor Team, will be to celebrate and represent each of Conor’s 20 years of life.
Words do not demonstrate or explain the feeling after the tragic passing of a loved one or friend no matter what the cause was. Conor always said that you can’t live your life in fear and that you should never waste a day of your life with a negative outlook on things. There will always be a hole in my heart for Conor but I will always remember the good times we had and celebrate the accomplishments we completed together. My family and friends were able to help me through one of the most difficult times in my life this past summer and I am forever grateful for that. Never take a day for granted because you never know when it could be your last. Life on earth is a beautiful thing so make the most of it and enjoy every moment that goes along with it.
Any amount helps in my fundraising efforts for this amazing cause and is beyond appreciated. I strive to live my life under the motto #BeLikeConor to help continue to make a change that Conor started.
Thank you & God Bless
