On July 29, 2018 I will be participating in a 57 mile bike ride to raise research money for Roswell Park Cancer Institute, one of the leading cancer research hospitals in the country. The Institute is at the leading edge of research in immunotherapy, brain and lung cancer vaccine trials, and many other groundbreaking treatments. The PSA test for prostate cancer, for example, was one of the innovations that was developed there.
I will be one of more than 150 riders to depart from New York City and make our way up to Stony Point in Rockland County, near Bear Mountain State Park. Most of these riders will be continuing on for a full week and another 500 miles all the way up to Niagara Falls in what is known as the Empire State Ride. This is the fifth year of the ride, and last year it raised over $550,000!
This is more than just a bike ride. I am participating, quite simply, to help put an end to cancer.
My goal is to raise $20 for every mile I ride. That's $1140 that will go directly to funding cutting edge research at Roswell.
Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer, and this is our opportunity to change the state of cancer research for good. Together, we can fuel groundbreaking discoveries, find cancer cures and save lives.
Please consider making a tax deductible donation today (Roswell is a top rated 501(c)(3) Nonprofit). No amount is too small, and every dollar adds up to something greater than any one of us could accomplish alone.
A big thank you to my friend Steve Mars for getting me involved. This will be his third year riding the full seven days and 540+ miles!
