Thanks to all that have donated; I've been practicing for the ESR ride daily. Tonight I rode with a group out of Mountain Top, PA (18707) the M M I group. In no way associated to the Freeland, PA; MMI school for children. The MMI group is by far more gifted and street smart than book learned. Tonight I was scheduled to ride with a friend of mine that wants to get practice mileage in as she is a triathlete having completed a half-ironman just 2 weeks ago. By far a better more conditioned athlete than myself. She cancelled at the last miute and I went with the MMI group instead. It's a small group of riders and we all seem to get along well with each other, we (usually) like the routes chosen and if not we just drudge through it as it's practice and it's all good in the end. Recently the group has been taking me on alot of hill climbing and elevation change. The best part of any ascent is the ride down and speeds fast enough to make your eyes water. Tonight's ride also had alot of spectacular views and various wildlife although no bears like last Wednesdays ride. The group always has interesting political viewpoints and discussions, usually talking about the days current events and past or future rides planned. This Sunday, June 25, 2017 I will be volunteering for the Bike New York "Discover Hudson Valley Ride" I will be working at a rest area at the Tony Williams Park in Highland New York. I invited the MMI group to participate as well having learned that my daughter Katie who was previously scheduled to help with me backed out at the last minute. No worries I will have a fun group of reliable people (familiar cyclists) helping out. Last year it was extremely hot and the crowds of riders were seemingly never ending. I look forward to this as I believe that you should put into the sport as well as enjoy it with everyone else. In an effort to raise funds towards my ESR ride (my goal is $3500.00); and I am slow at getting ANY sponsors to reach my goal; I have taken a second job at Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park (Elysburg PA). All of my wages earned will be donated to my ESR fundraising goal. Although I haven't discussed it with them as of this writing I am hoping for matching funds for any money raised. It is a mutual benefit as a tax deductable contribution and it's going to a good cause as well. Good publicity for the park also. If you read this and find it the least bit entertaining let me know when you make a donation on my page. THANK YOU and keep reading future posts. I will introduce you to the group eventually and let you know who some of the best riders are in the area.
