This year, it's personal. Cancer reared it's ugly head in my body and I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2017. After diagnosis and a treatment plan established with another health care provider, I was encouraged to get a second opinion at RPCI. I initially resisted...i just wanted this gone, over and done with. I was afraid to make that initial contact with RPCI, but once I did, I felt like a weight was lifted from me. It's hard to explain the cloud of anxiety that I was existing in but RPCI made it easier to move ahead. Everyone that I talked to, met with, or was treated by, compassionately addressed my concerns. I knew I was in good hands, not just with the excellent surgical care I received (thanks Dr. Schwaab and Dr. Li!) but also because of the caring attitudes of all the support staff that I encountered.
I'm grateful to have the opportunity to give back a little bit to RPCI for treating my cancer. In past years, I've donated to and volunteered at the Ride for Roswell. However, on Saturday, June 23rd, I will hop on my bike and join the Ride for Roswell to raise money for this great cause.
As you may know, I'm not good at sharing personal details or asking for money, so you can imagine how strongly I feel about this fundraiser that I am willing to share my personal story.
You can make a difference in the fight against cancer by supporting my fundraising efforts. In fact, for every dollar donated, Roswell Park can leverage an additional $13 in new grant funding!
Please consider making a donation to help me to reach and exceed my fundraising goal.
