Thank you so much for taking time to visit my personal page. I truly appreciate it! This is more than just a bike ride. I am participating in a 540 plus mile cycling adventure across New York State to end cancer. It will be my greatest physical challenge, but more importantly it will also be a tribute to my brother Michael Doran who always embraced challenges to significantly help others.
Michael achieved tremendous success in his support of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. This coming year will mark the tenth anniversary of his first and only Ride for Roswell in 2008, where he achieved the feat of a top ten fund raiser and worked directly with Roswell Park to raise awareness of the Stacey Scott Lung Cancer Registry.
Michael committed to work with Dr. Mary Reid by encouraging his railroad clients, who were high risk factors for lung cancer, to participate in a screening process that “permits physicians and scientists, nationally and internationally to conduct research leading to important breakthroughs in early detection and treatment for lung cancer patients around the world. Michael and Dr. Reid's efforts have saved lives.
Sadly, Michael and his associate Matt Schnirel both died on April 28, 2009 in a plane crash. They inspired our Ride for Roswell team in June of 2009, where we finished as a top ten fund raising team. June 23, 2018 will mark our tenth consecutive year as a Ride for Roswell team. Inspired by Michael, I would like to give several patients, who would love to share their stories of adversity, courage, resilience and hope, a video/film that includes his or her story, and how he or she has benefitted from advancement in treatments. I would like to connect each survivor's story to the extraordinary and beautiful scenery of New York State.
The film will also highlight patients overcoming the following cancers: Lung cancer, Brain cancer, Multiple Myeloma and childhood Osteosarcoma.
